Christian Socialism

In a recent email I received regarding the fallacy of socialism, the Lord revealed to me that a similar spirit has crept into the church. The email, which was entitled “Classroom Socialism,” said the following;

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but had recently failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama’s socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, “Ok, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama’s plan. All grades will be averaged and everyone will receive the same grade so no one will fail and, no one will receive an ‘A’ (substituting grades for dollars, something closer to home and more readily understood by all).

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a ‘B’. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy. As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less, and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little.

The second test average was a ‘D’! No one was happy. When the third test rolled around, the average was an ‘F’. As the tests proceeded, the scores never increased as bickering, blame, and name calling all resulted in hard feelings, and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. To their great surprise, all failed and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

This shows just how ridiculous socialism is at its core. It doesn’t account for the fallen nature of mankind. “When the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great, but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.” This statement is so true. Incentive and reason are great motivating factors. This is also a perfect example of the Lord's model of rewarding those in His Kingdom government who are not just hearer’s of His word, but doers of it (James 2:22-25).

In America, a modern brand of “Christian Socialism” has leavened the majority of the church. Like socialism, the “Once saved, always saved” doctrine says that even if I do nothing, after turning to Christ, I'll still get the same reward of eternal life as everyone else who walks in obedience. Unfortunately, many will attempt to presumptuously draw from their account in front of the judgment seat of Christ, only to discover they are spiritually bankrupt.

Some might argue by saying, “What about the parable Jesus taught about the landowner who paid the same amount to those who worked his vineyard, even though some had worked more than others? Shouldn’t, therefore, everyone get the same eternal reward based on this principle?” (Matthew 20:1-16) Yes, they were paid the same, but they were all working, doing something in the landowner’s vineyard.

In fact, verse six in this passage says; About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, “Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?” (Matthew 20:6/NIV) The difference is, when confronted, these workers came.

The Lord has been calling out to His people to come and work in His fields in the final hour of this age. The issue He has with the church in America is that not everyone who presently hears is responding (Matthew 22:1-14). We are not walking in the “good works” we were created for in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10). The Lord is saying to us; I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, but you are dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die, for I have not found your works perfect [“to make full, to complete”] before God. (Revelation 3:1-2/NKJV)

The Bible warns us to store up treasures in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21). Unfortunately, many in the church, through spiritual laziness, have stored up more on earth. Like rebellious Israel in the wilderness, without repentance they will not be allowed to enter in (Hebrews 3-4).

This is a very serious subject that the Lord gives me revelation after revelation on. For obvious reasons the devil has deceived many regarding the truth of His salvation, “a salvation ready to be revealed in the last days” (1 Peter 1:5). Praise God that the truth that can set us free is now being revealed in these closing moments of this age. It is extremely crucial that we listen to what the Spirit is saying to the church… one last time.
