Twas The Day Jesus Came
It was the day when Jesus came
And there was no peace in the house
The only creatures that were quiet
Were the cat and the mouse
The Bible lay dusty high upon a shelf
There was no family worship
And not a prayer said.
The news on the TV was blasting
But none seemed to care
That the signs were around them
Showing Jesus soon would be there
The children were fighting
Upstairs in the room
While the parents were arguing
Oh, this family is doomed.
All of a sudden, there arose such a clatter
That this family stopped fighting
To see what was the matter.
They all ran to the window,
And father tore open the curtain
They didn’t know what was happening
And that sure was for certain.
They looked up to the heavens
And in the East saw a light
That grew bigger and brighter
It was such a sight.
Then came the sound of a loud trumpet blast
And all of God’s children shouted
“Christ has now come at last!”
For this family and many others
It was surely too late
For the choices they made
Had sealed their true fate.
The others looked up
And watched Jesus draw near.
They all shouted for joy
For they had nothing to fear.
So be ready today, He is coming soon
It could be at morning, at night or at noon.
Take down your Bible
From off of the shelf,
Dust it all off and start reading it, daily,
In spite of yourself.
Don’t wait too long, for this you must do
For it may be too late
When you learn that the Bible is true.
